Spring Gardening Check List
|
|
|
|
March has arrived! It won't be much longer until our greenhouses are brimming with flowers as you walk around shopping for the perfect plant.
Until that time comes, we're happy to provide you with a checklist of gardening activities you can be doing in March!
- Fertilize trees & shrubs if you missed a fall feeding
- Prune summer flowering shrubs before new growth begins - wait to prune spring flowering shrubs until after flowers appear
- Keep tender plants such as roses, covered until April
- Clear the garden of winter mulch if we have mild weather
- Remove leaves, twigs & any debris that have accumulated over winter
- Prepare new plant beds if soil is thawed & not waterlogged
- Apply dormant oil spray on fruit & shade trees to prevent insect infestation (Ensure temperatures are above freezing for several days beforehand!)

Get ready because gardening season is right around the corner. We couldn't be more excited to show you what we have been working on this winter. We hope you take time to think about and prepare your gardens for this upcoming spring season.
Keep checking our Facebook page for updates as we get ready to open and be on the look out for an email next week about another new line of perennials we're adding to the mix. Also, at the beginning of April, we will send out the information for our classes and events for the 2014 season. |
