COASTAL DRIFTER by Barry Basiger |
Welcome to Coastal Drifter!
Coastal Drifter officially started in March of 2013 in Oahu Hawaii. I am stationed here in the United States Navy. I loved woodworking ever since high school. I took shop class all four years and my passion grew for woodworking. I made small things around the house through out the years. I have loved the ocean since a little kid and surfing has become another passion of mine. I wanted to share my love for the beach and my inspiration with hand crafted high quality home décor to you.
We (Barry & Vanessa) started Coastal Drifter because of our own love with white sand and blue water. We fell in love with the smiles on our little girls, sinking their toes in the sand and splashing in the water. We like to live a relaxed lifestyle and love to enjoy all life has to offer. In the past we had a very hard time finding simple quality décor made here in America. That bothered us so we decided to do something about it. Well, after much drawling and designing, color picking. I finally turned a dream and passion into reality.
We have put many hours in to what you see today. Our products are truly one of a kind. We say that because we make each piece by my own hands. We hand craft each item you see here today. There are no items bought and resold on coastal drifter. Coastal Drifter shares the love of fun, surf and sand with other folks that love the beach and sea as much as we do.
Coastal Drifter is committed to leaving a positive impression in this world. We are always looking for new ideas on how to resource items. Many companies out there buy their items from other places, but we wanted to go one-step further and make all of are items. I hope to one day to have a brick and mortar store with employees. I want to make the community a stronger more independent place. We hope you enjoy your time here at Coastal Drifter and find items that fit your lifestyle. If you’re like us, you can agree that there is no better way to live than on or near the water! Mahalo.
Coastal Drifter, it’s not a brand, it’s a life style

FLATTERY DESIGNS by Amy Hart |
Bringing you a little piece of aloha, we specialize in hand collected Hawaiian sea glass, shell, and driftwood creations, from jewelry to items for your home. All designs are handmade using found items from the gorgeous beaches of North Shore of Oahu!
Flattery Designs started in 2012 when Amy, her business partner Bronwen, and her then 9 year old daughter Eve stumbled onto a secret shelling spot and found a treasure trove of shells! Eve's Dad suggested selling them, but we thought we could never part with our special shells. After a few more trips out there though, we realized the shells were going to take over the house if we didn't do something! In March 2012, we launched our etsy page. Amy has taken many classes to learn specific techniques and it is now a wonderful family business that her fiancé, Brad is a part of as well!

Pacifica themed clothing and accessories
Creating Island Kiwi enables me to share the culture and influence of my New Zealand “Kiwi” upbringing with my family and friends in Hawaii, by providing beautiful products that are inherently useful, multipurpose, and simple.
Inspired by living and raising a young family in the islands, I feel my affinity with polynesia is revealed in my items reflecting island flare, fun and function.
All items are made in my home and often times with the help of my children. I try to be mindful of the environment and its resources and like to reflect nature’s gifts through my designs.

JULIE'S HOT GLASS by Julia Johnson
My business started after years of making glass for fun and became a registered business in 2009. I purchased two kilns and sold my husband's weight equipment to make room for my new business. My garage is now filled with a rainbow of glass and lots of creativity! (and my husband now goes to the gym!) I design and cut by hand each piece of glass. I am inspired by the flowers and sea life that surrounds me in Hawaii.
I custom make glass to fit a room or personality! I also make military designs, so check out my webpage!

KAILUA BEACH SIGNS by Jensin Sommer |
Custom hand-painted signs
The artist and owner of Kailua Krafts is a recently retired naval officer whose creative interests were placed on back burner for 24 years while she juggled career and family duties.
Two years ago Jensin began using leftover wood to make signs for friends and neighbors as a way to recycle and reconnect with her love of painting....... requests for custom signs soon followed and Kailua Krafts was born.
Her shabby chic products reflect the spirit of aloha and the beauty of the sea. Each item is cut, sanded, painted, sanded again and sealed before hanging hardware is added. Driftwood and most shells and sea glass are collected from Oahu beaches. Today Kailua Krafts creations can be found in two popular boutiques and are enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
Jensin will be available to paint small name signs during the Boutiki craft fair while customers shop or for later pick up.

MATTY'S METAL WORKS by Matthew Kologi |
I am an Active Duty Hospital Corpsman currently stationed on MCBH Kaneohe Bay. I started my business doing custom metal stamping for people who already had floating charm lockets. My wife had one and wanted a custom plate, so I came home from work one day and was told that I was going to a class! I actually really liked it, so it became a hobby.
I started making so many plates, that I felt it would be a good way to earn a little extra money. From there, I decided to start designing and selling charms for the lockets as well. Eventually, I felt that I could supply a high quality locket as good as or better than what was currently available, at a fraction of the cost of the main competitors. I strive to continue providing my customers with jewelry they love, at a price that doesn’t hurt the wallet.
I am happily married, have two wonderful children as well as the greatest Sheltie I’ve ever owned. I love the ocean, so naturally, this is my second tour in Hawaii! My wife and I love to travel, and plan on drifting from one country to the next, after I retire from the Navy.

VICTORY CANNING by Audrey Keglovitz |
I make homemade jam's, jellies
and mustards.
From my victory garden to your table.
I strive to bring the freshest local ingredients to you. I grow a lot of my own food and love passing on jars of my labor.
My love for canning started the first time I tasted my Grandmothers grape jelly. I didn't realize how wonderful homemade jelly was. Since that moment I've spent time learning the safe and proper way to can. I use ingredients that I either grow myself or I buy from local farmers. This ensures that the quality of my creations match the freshness of the ingredients.
