introduces us to The Splendid Sampler!
|

|
The Splendid Sampler sew-along is an amazing journey bringing quilters and quilt pattern designs together from every corner of the world.
About a year ago, my quilty designer friends Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson had an idea to create a year-long mystery sew-along project. Pat lives in the US and Jane lives in Australia, on two opposite ends of the world.

Well, last summer the idea took root, and 84 quilt pattern designers answered the invitation to participate including me! All I needed to do was design a 6” square quilt block that represented my own “Splendid” quilting journey and submit the pattern for the block along with its splendid story to Jane and Pat. After a bunch of behind-the-scenes logistics, on February 14, 2016, the first of 100 block patterns was released for download.
Every Sunday and Thursday each week, a new block and its designer, as well as his or her story (yes, we have a boy designer in the bunch!) are introduced, mystery quilt style. |

At first, I thought I was just going to observe as the blocks were introduced. But the blocks—and especially their stories—drew me in. Each week, I’m including tips and suggestions to make that week’s blocks in the 'Good Migrations' newsletter. Do you want to see what my block looks like? You have to wait, like everyone else; my block will be released in December, the 84th block in the sequece.
