Welcome to "Gail's Gab"!  A monthly blog penned by our lovely and loquacious Gail Peterson, the A+D Specialist here at Kershner Office Furniture.  A quick and fun read to check in on events and who's-doing-what in the Philadelphia design community.  We hope you enjoy and look forward to your feedback!

It's been crazy around the metro-Philly area with all the events!
The Kershner A+D specialist team (Jeremiah and myself!) has been making the rounds with our Post Neocon presentation!  We selected product highlights from 21 manufacturers for our presentation and...."Hooray!" we are getting GREAT REVIEWS!  The presentation is available to download here!  If we haven't been to your firm and you would like us to set up a presentation - please contact me!

We have also been on "tour" doing Lunch and Learns with none other than the amazing Laurel Logan, Kimball's A+D rep!  Yes - we do it all!!

There have been some AMAZING events so far this summer that I want to mention!
IIDA hosted an event at The Independence Beer Garden where I was so happy to meet the new IIDA City Center Director - Julianne Peters! Congratulations!!

NEWH AC Philly has been going strong with their Thirsty Thursdays!  Rooftop venues are the hot spots these days!!

Topping it all off - Kershner and Kimball co-hosted a "Healthcare Happy Hour" in celebration of National Watermelon Day on the super-cool roof-top space at WeWork at 15th and Walnut.
It was REALLY a lot of fun - watermelon themed food and drink.

A wonderful watermelon time was had by all!

July was really amazing!  Fourth of July is always a great time and some of us even got a 4-day weekend!  How great was that?
BUT!......there was another AMAZING event the took place on July 1st.  It was my mother, Mary Rees's, 100th BIRTHDAY!  Yes - 100 years!  And don't do the math - I have been trying to keep a secret! Everyone had a wonderful time at her party - but there was no dancing.  That would have been too scary!  But, I can't tell you how grateful I am to have my mother still with me at 100 years old!  It is not something many of us can say.  And, to think of the history she has lived through is just mid-boggling.  She still can't figure out how I get all those photos in my tiny little phone - LOL!!

And then it happened.....I wasn't feeling too well Friday Aug. 11th, I was planning to go to Toronto for a visit to the Global Furniture headquarters for a company trip on Aug. 14th and decided it was best to find out what was going on with my health and get it taken care of.  After driving myself to the hospital for a CAT scan - I found out it was appendicitis!  UNBELIEVABLE!!  So - instead of going to Canada I opted for surgery which undoubtedly was the best choice!!  Shout-out to the team at Delaware County Memorial Hospital for taking such great care of me!  I was back on my feet in a few days!!

So - the trip to Global in Toronto went on without me and I had a bad case of "FOMO" - BUT I do want to share some highlights and pictures that my team brought back.
Mainly you need to know that GLOBAL HAS RE-INVENTED ITSELF! They have definitely "upped" their game in the last 5 years.  They are serious about their emphasis on design - and it shows!
The focal point was visiting the 100,000 square foot Global Group Center, designed by renowned architects Moriyama and Teshima.  The entire facility demonstrates Global's commitment to design as it moves into the future.  They are the largest manufacturer of office furniture that operates mainly in North America and their commitment to the environment is un-paralleled.  They actually use their wood and plastic by-products of manufacturing to create materials that are incorporated into internal components through a process that totally eliminates wood waste. I look forward to going to see for myself in the near future!!

So sorry to have missed this trip!  Here is the Kershner crew with Jill Aberico, Kaitlyn Matthews and Adam Wayne from Global - my smiling face is MIA!
