The Adult Egg Hunt is going online!
100% of the proceeds will be donated to the
Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
We can't gather together in person this year, but we can come together as an online community to continue our Spring Fundraiser for the Food Bank. Our goal is to raise as much money for the Food Bank as we possibly can, so please tell your friends and family, and share this page with everyone you know!

Meet the Cedar Creek Gallery Artist:
Lizzie Morantz
Lizzie Morantz grew up in the Chicago suburbs where she happened to live down the street from a family of glassblowers, Charles Lotton and his sons. Her first experience blowing glass was in her mid-20s, when her now-husband Jonathan gifted her a class at Durham’s Firefly Studio for her birthday. In autumn of 2016, her commitment to glass was solidified with a six-week concentration in Glassblowing at Penland School of Craft.
As her passion for glass grew, Lizzie began to seek out a community of peers and sent what she calls a “Hail Mary” letter to Lisa Oakley asking if she could use some help. With anything. Meanwhile, Lisa was scrambling because Matt Decker and Harrison Harper were both leaving the studio to pursue other opportunities. Lisa, who is known to tease her mother, Pat, for being so “whoo whoo,” decided to take a page out of Pat’s book and “put it out there to the Universe” that she needed someone special to help in her studio. Voila, Lizzie’s letter arrived and the two began to email back and forth. Lisa invited Lizzie to attend the 2017 Spring Pottery and Glass Festival -- where she surprised Lizzie by asking her to assist with a demo. We can only assume it went well because shortly after that they attended a class together in Pittsburgh and came home as a glass-blowing team.
Lizzie’s day job since graduating with a degree in music education from Western Carolina had been teaching music in Wake County elementary schools. Today Lizzie still teaches music part-time in Wake County schools but much to her delight, her day job is now blowing glass at Cedar Creek Gallery.

April Recipe
Lizzie's Bone/Meat Stock
This is something I make multiple times a year and always have some in the freezer. I refer to this stock as my “liquid gold” not only because it’s delicious but also great for overall gut health and can be a good boost for the immune system. It has so much rich flavor I typically sip it out of a mug or use it as a base for a simple soup.

Ingredients:
• Whole chicken (cut into pieces or whole)
• 1 Yellow Onion
• 1 White Potato
• 1 Sweet Potato
• 1 Zucchini
• 1 Yellow Squash
• 2 Carrots
• 2 Celery Stalks
• 1 Parsnip
• 6 Cloves of Garlic
• Fresh Rosemary, Thyme and Sage (two sprigs of each)
Directions:
Use the biggest pot you own! Fill a large pot 2/3 full with water. Peel the onion and garlic. Rinse the rest of the vegetables. Cut all large vegetables into quarters. Put all ingredients in the pot, if you still have room fill it the rest of the way with water. Season with plenty of salt and pepper. Turn on high heat until the water begins to boils then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer the stock for at least 8 hours, as it cooks down put in more water. Once it has simmered for 8 hours let the liquid cook down to about half the pot. Strain and enjoy!
