Health Announcement:
All's well here so far, and rest assured that we are taking precautions to prevent any spread of illness through the frequent use of disinfectants on surfaces and following Archbishop Lori's guidelines, which you can read HERE, until the threat has passed. Please refrain from physical contact during the Sign of the Peace. Also, please consider making a Spiritual Communion instead if you feel unwell. Thank you for your understanding, and please keep all those suffering from the virus or its effects throughout the world in your prayers.

Lent is a liturgical season when all members of the Universal Church must seek to distance ourselves from earthly attachments, to retreat to the desert like Jesus for 40 days. We participate in abstinence, fasting, confession, devotions and acts of mercy and resist temptations in order to strengthen our spiritual discipline and grow in holiness. We walk the Via Dolorosa with our Lord, wait at the tomb, and anticipate Easter Sunday when we will rejoice in the Resurrection of Our Lord.

The Legion of Mary, Our Lady Undoer of Knots Praesidium will continue the DVD Bible Study on "Revelations" in the Conference room beginning at 12:30 pm. Relic of the True Cross Blessing
& Holy Hour of Reparation
Friday, March 13th
12:00 Noon Mass will be followed immediately by a blessing of all present with the Relic of the True Cross, of which OLC is a humble steward. The Relic will remain on the altar for veneration for a time. Read about relics of the True Cross HERE. We will be praying especially for an end of the spreading of the corona virus.
Stations of the Cross will then be prayed, during which the priest will begin hearing Confessions. When Stations are complete, confessions will be paused for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and then will resume. At this time, for those who wish to take part, a Holy Hour of Reparation before the Blessed Sacrament will be prayed, offering our Lord prayers of thanksgiving and reparation and entreating the intercession of the Blessed Mother and all the saints for unity in the Church, for sinners of all types, and for a just and lasting peace in the world. Adoration will continue until evening Mass.
7:30 PM Mass will be followed by another Blessing with the Relic of the True Cross, Confessions, Stations of the Cross and regular Friday Night Devotions.

with local author Pamela Love
Wednesday, March 18th, 10:30 am
We are so excited to have local author Pamela Love visiting us to read one of her delightful creations, "Brigid and the Butter, a legend of Saint Brigid of Ireland." We also carry "Staircase for the Sisters," a story of prayer and St. Joseph, and "The Sword and the Cape," a tale about St. Martin of Tours. With St. Patrick's Day celebrated the day before and St. Joseph's Feast Day celebrated the day after, March 18th is the perfect day to highlight Pamela's books! We will have a supply of them on hand for purchase, and Pamela will sign your copy! We will also have a fun activity and snacks. Please RSVP so we can anticipate how many crafts and snacks to have on hand and if you would like us to reserve a book or two or three for you, let us know!

Consecration to St. Joseph at OLC
Thursday, March 19th following 12:00 Noon Mass
For first time ever, Catholics all over the world have been joining together to prepare for consecration to St. Joseph, in recognition of his role as our spiritual father. Fr. Don Calloway's new book, "Consecration to St. Joseph" has been the guide for the preparation. The first of many waves of consecrations will take place on St. Joseph's feast day, March 19th. Please join us in the chapel after Mass if you are completing the preparation. We will recite the consecration together and will have certificates available for you to sign.
|
|
|
|
|
|
If you would like to begin your preparation, Fr. Calloway's book is for sale in the Bookstore. The next start date is March 30th in order to consecrate 33 days later, on the Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker.
Why Consecration to St. Joseph? He is the patron of Fathers, the Patron of Families, and the Patron of the Universal Church, all of which have been suffering great persecution and division in recent times. AND he's the terror of demons, the source of so much of our suffering. Now is the time for our Spiritual Father to take our hands and guide us in becoming more holy.
