Proposed Avenue of Flags Plan
Construction at Mount Rushmore National Memorial is underway at the park. While there are some inconveniences in the short term, plans to widen the Avenue of Flags will offer less congestion. Please note that plaques identifying the state flags will all be facing forward. Visitors will no longer have to go around columns to find their state flag.

Current Park Reminders:
Ranger Programs. The National Park Service has announced that there are ranger programs in the Sculptor’s Studio every hour starting at 9 am. The Sculptor's Studio is open until 5 pm. Check the Information Center for scheduled topics and times.
The Evening Lighting Program begins at 8 pm through September 30. The program will be held at the south end of the Avenue of Flags. A ranger will announce the program, and a short ranger talk will be provided. Veterans and active-duty military will be invited to hold the flag and fold it at the end of the program just after the National Anthem.
Accessibility. Visitors who have mobility challenges and wish to visit the Sculptor’s Studio must stop in the Information Center for instructions on how to get to the studio in a vehicle. Studio parking is in a gated, secured area. Visitors must meet with the ranger at the Information Center prior to driving to the studio parking gate.
Mount Rushmore Self-Guided Tours. Although some areas of the park are not accessible, you can see everything with a self-guided tour. Click here to find out more about this activity at the park!
