REMINDER! THIS FRIDAY:
Coast to Coast Consecration
to Jesus through Mary
Friday, May 31st, following 12:00 Noon Mass
In order to increase the effectiveness of our prayers and apostolic endeavors, many of us have been uniting spiritually in preparation of consecrating (or reconsecrating) ourselves and our apostolates to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary on one special day at the same time. The 33 Day Preparation began individually on Sunday, April 28th, the feast of St. Louis de Montfort & Divine Mercy Sunday in order to consecrate on Friday, May 31st, the Feast of The Visitation, and (regionally) the Lady of All Nations and Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces. The Consecration will be live streamed from the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA on May 31. Those who wish to consecrate (or re-consecrate) themselves together with us may do so after Noon Mass at Our Lady's Center before the Blessed Sacrament. Full color certificates of consecration will be provided.
|
|
|
|
|
Note: Preparation for consecration can begin anytime throughout the year, with the general practice of aiming to complete the 33 day preparation on a Marian feast day. Books can be purchased in the bookstore. Also, if you have not undergone the preparation, you are still encouraged to take part in the consecration if you are willing to trust everything in your possession to the Blessed Mother including all graces you receive, that she may disperse them as she pleases, knowing she is united to Our Lord and His most perfect will.

First Saturday Mass & Devotions
Saturday, June 1st, 10:30 am Mass
followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and a First Saturday Holy Hour, during which Confessions are heard, and closing with Benediction. The Bookstore is open 10-10:30 am and 12-2:00 pm.
DVD Showing: "The Woman"
Saturday, June 1st, 12:30 pm
Following First Saturday Mass and Devotions, the Legion of Mary, Our Lady Undoer of Knots Praesidium, will host a showing and discussion. Come join us and learn about Mary!
In the Gospels we hear Jesus refer to his mother Mary as “Woman,” a title mentioned in both Genesis and Revelation. But who is this “Woman”, and why is she so central in the history of Salvation? This powerful film presents the beautiful Catholic teaching about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her important role in the Church and in the lives of Christians today. Combining many gorgeous images from classic sacred art with a lovely soundtrack, the dogmas of the Mother of God, Immaculate Conception, Perpetual Virginity, and Assumption are explained, along with other traditional beliefs and devotions to Mary.

Blessing of the Blankets
Tuesday, June 11th, after 12:00 Noon Mass
It's time again for another round of freshly-knotted bevy of blankets to be blessed at 12:00 Noon Mass and distributed to area children in need through Project Linus. Those who made the blankets also receive a special blessing. Already over 350 blankets have been donated and thank you letters are rolling in. Please consider helping us buy more materials with a cash donation. Look for the fleece-covered collection basket in the chapel after Mass.
NOTE: NO BLANKET MAKING WORKSHOPS IN JUNE
Usually, Blanket Making Workshops are held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays at 1pm, but this month our fearless leader, Kam Comastro, is away. Join us next month to learn to make colorful, knotted fleece blankets for Project Linus, a non-profit organization which provides snuggly handmade blankets to children in need. If you can cut and make knots, you can make a blanket! Material and supplies are provided.

Holy Hour of Reparation to the Sacred Heart before the Blessed Sacrament
Two dates this month:
Friday 6/14 & 6/28, following 12:00 Noon Mass
In addition to our normally scheduled Holy Hour of Reparation, which is always held on the second Friday of the months, we are adding a special Holy Hour of Reparation on the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus which falls on Friday, 6/28.
In light of the affronts against God and his creation which are being perpetrated and increasingly promoted in our world, we have decided to again make this powerful devotion a regular activity at OLC. Come join in these vocal prayers of thanksgiving and reparation to the Blessed Trinity and especially our Savior, prayers through our dear Blessed Mother, and all the saints for unity in the Church, for sinners of all types, for a just and lasting peace in the world and more! Booklets are provided and are also for sale in the bookstore.

A Joyful May Crowning in the Chapel
Rain couldn't stop us from honoring our beloved Mother. On the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima, our patroness, we again took part in the beautiful tradition of honoring the Blessed Mother with a procession and a crown of flowers. Two recent First Communicants came to lead the procession with Msgr. Joseph Lizor, then other children and most all the adults in attendance followed behind, carrying flowers to offer Our Lady. As the weather kept us inside, we joyfully processed all around the chapel, singing Marian hymns. After the Blessed Mother was crowned, all were invited down to the conference room to celebrate the happy occasion with cake. Thank you to our first communicants for such an excellent job leading us and to their families for making the day so extra special.

Serving Up a Hearty Thank You
to William Plesser
We'd like to take this opportunity to note the five years of faithful service we have received from our youngest server. Will has been faithfully serving our Friday evening Masses for five years, including while attending Mount St. Joseph's High School and being the sacristan of St. Paul's, and currently a college student at UMBC. He also is serving five Latin Masses per week at St. Alphonsus in Baltimore, rising at 5 am to do so. We are so grateful for Will's dedication and the not so small sacrifice of so many weekend nights in faithful service to the Lord. We would have happily included a photo of Will, but we know that he eschews attention and even this much recognition is taxing to his humble nature. Please keep WIll in your prayers as he discerns God's will for his future.
