Come say goodbye to Mr. Duane
Friday is a sad day for Kazoodles, when Mr. Duane jumps on the retirement train and leaves the Kazoodles station after seven years with us. Please join us to say goodbye to our resident train expert, puppeteer, handyman and punster.
Many a child has been entertained by Sally dog (picture on the left) or some other puppet as Mr. Duane makes them feel special and welcome. Everyone, young and old, enjoys seeing his model train in our holiday window, and he's just likely to set it up again for the joy of playing with trains. In the photo on the right, Engineer Duane and his neighbor, Jacob, celebrated Train Day several years ago. Jacob is now at least his height.
We wish Mr. Duane well as he focuses his time on being a grandpa, Sunday school teacher, railroad historian, model railroader, steam train enthusiast....did we mention he likes trains?
Join us Friday, Feb. 17, from 9:30-6 to say goodbye and munch a train cookie!

Concerned about kids? Two community events next week
They're today's tots but tomorrow's workers. If you are curious or concerned about the kids in our community and country, two events next week will inform and inspire you.
The State of the Children & Families Report for Clark County will be given Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 4:30-6 p.m. at Vancouver Community Library downtown. Please RSVP to Debbie Ham, debbie.ham@selfwa.org. This is sponsored by Support for Early Learning and Families and Southwest Washington Early Learning.
The third screening in the "Raising of America" series is Thursday, Feb. 23. "Are We Crazy About Our Kids?" examines investing in high quality early care and education, and how it pays for itself in many ways and many times over. The video, followed by a community conversation, is at Cascade Park Community Library from 4 to 6 p.m.

We're all about kid-powered toys at Kazoodles. We seek out toys, books and games that engage kids' brains, muscles, imaginations and creativity. If a toy grows with a child or lasts through several kids, that's value. Our toys range for kids from birth to 108 — classic and innovative, with quality and safety as top priorities. Lots of special events, plus play areas around the store, beckon kids to come and play. Local and independent!
